A Vlog.

Oh, hey there. Yes, it is true; as the title suggests, I have a vlog. You can watch an introduction video I made for said vlog below.

As mentioned in the video, I've been doing these things for a couple months now, but they've mostly been for my Roosterteeth forum-mates. But, I'm certain you can still find some enjoyment; enjoy!

I'm certain you can figure out how to get to my channel from the video window... but I'll link you to it anyways. Here you go.

Alright, hope you enjoyed that, and stay tuned for more vlogs in the future. Later days, my friends.

Oh, hey there. It's been a while.

But honestly, I don't know if anyone actually reads this, so what does it matter...

It has been a long time since I've updated. Almost two months, wow. Well, shit has been busy. School is stressful; life is changing; brain overloaded. I went through a minor bout of depression about a month ago, which is still somewhat hanging off my back. It was a pretty brutal and scary time for me... But, I'm pretty good for the time being.

As for school, I'm just extremely unmotivated. It seems ever since midterms I've just been in the whole "fuck it" mindset. I've had mountainous amounts of work, most of which I have not done. I just haven't been able to bring myself to do it. I've been distracted, and just overall unmotivated. But, it's getting into crunch time. I'm hoping I can get back into the rhythm soon.

I've tried really hard recently to keep in contact with a lot of friends that I've lost touch with. A lot of people from highschool that I sort of regret not hanging out and talking with more often. This whole depression and change in situation seems to have caused me to regret a lot of stuff. It's like I've started to look at my life from a different angle... I'm telling you now, growing up is scary, confusing, and unexpected.

Well, I've avoided sleep for long enough. Hopefully writing this was a good remedy for my insomnia. G'night, dear readers.

Whoa, update.

It's been a while... I haven't really kept this thing up to date. Stuff has been busy, and therefore I have my priorities. This, though my personal blog, has very few readers. Therefore, it is not a priority.

Anyway, on to the update. I'm in university now. Moved off to York, started classes last week. Things are going well, I'm enjoying my courses thus far. Residence is definitely interesting. I haven't really met anyone, as I was not there for frosh, but I'm still enjoying myself. I'm sure things will pick up eventually...

There's not a whole lot to update, really... There is, but there's no real point in going through it. I will say, however, that I will be making a video journal this weekend. It's nore for my friends on Roosterteeth, but I'm sure it will be enjoyable for all. I will be sure to post it here once it's finished.

And with that, I'm off. Have a good weekend.

Chillaxin'

Wow, busy week. The good news is, I'm off until Tuesday. I have a lot of work set out for me next week, but I'm not thinking about that now. I have three relaxing days of weekend ahead of me. A weekend full of absolutely nothing.

Awesome-sauce.

I'll probably get up to some writing (I'm working on a story with an online friend of mine). Hopefully I can finish my part of the first chapter by the end of the weekend.

I also got my statement for the first year of university (tuition, and residence). It's going to cost me $11,085.60... I'm going to call my grandpa on Monday, set up a meeting to go to the bank and whatever.

Later kids, have a great weekend.

Update.

So it's been a while since I've written a journal. I was tired of copying and pasting from my other stuff, so I just stopped. I figured I'd give you few readers an update.

Not a whole lot has been going on. Work is pretty good. It's monotonous and I'm running out of stuff to do, but I'm making money so I'm happy. As for money, university costs a lot. I need to get some stuff sorted out soon, or else I may lose my spot at York...

I had a party last night, which went well. There were fewer people than last time, so it was much less chaotic. I was happy with how it turned out. Hopefully I can have another one or two before I head off to York.

I got my first credit card last week. It's exciting. I'll be buying some stuff online in the next couple weeks, which is one of the main reasons why I got it. I'm getting a Zune and some clothes from J!NX, which is pretty awesome.

I still haven't decided whether to frosh or not... Depends how much I've made by that point, I guess. We'll see.

First Day

So I worked my first day today. It was good. Very relaxed, a nice start.

It's a little bit tedious, but I'll get used to it. I don't really have a concrete job, I'm just there to help out with whatever. So this first week will basically be adaptation.

We started out talking for about an hour regarding the company, what they do, and what my responsibilities will be. Then I was taught how to use the contact manger program that they use, which I would need to familiarize myself with rather quickly because they just purchased a newer version.

I then spent the rest of the morning checking and updating contacts and familiarizing myself with the program so that I could import all of the old contacts (and there are a fuck-ton) when we made the upgrade. Somewhat tedious, but a nice relaxing start to the day.

After lunch, I played around with the boss's PDA, as he is a technophobe and has no idea how to use it, so he wants me to learn how to work it so that I can teach him. I played with it for a good three hours, which was a nice waste of time.

Tomorrow I will be installing the new program, updating the contacts, and attempting to sync the new program with the PDA (as that is the main reason why it was purchased). Should be an interesting day, I'm looking forward to it. And I'll be alone for the first half, because my boss has a doctor's appointment in Toronto. Fun fun.

The hours weren't too bad. I was still asleep when I got in at 8 (woke up at 5:30), but I got out around 5:30 so it's all good. I should have a nice paycheck at the end of next week. I'll be opening a savings account that I can't access from my debit so that I can't spend my cash... Just in case.

I'm hopefully seeing Transformers after work tomorrow, but it all depends on whether I can milk some cash out of my parents. Anyways, I need to sleep. Have a great week guys!

I'M ACCEPTED!

I just got an email from York saying. . .

"As you've been given an offer of admission, we'd like to re-confirm important information about what's coming up..."

THAT'S RIGHT KIDS, I've been accepted!!

Oh, I'm so giddy right now. Unfortunately I can't accept the acceptance yet, because the stupid application site takes a while to update, but hopefully I'll have it done by the end of the day. I'm so excited, I'm shaking... This is fantastic!

Hope you all have a great day, weekend, and whatever. Wow, this is shaping up to be a fantastic summer!!

I'm finished... Again!

So I'm officially done school. Well, I was done yesterday, but I got doing stuff so I couldn't post a journal.

My exams went well. They were really long this year, and pretty tough. I did them all as well as possible, but I'm sure I could've put more into it. Hopefully I end off with decent marks.

Yesterday was interesting... After my exam, I was supposed to meet my mom at the mall at around 12:30. She had a doctor's appointment, so she couldn't get me right after the exam. So I started walking, and I came to the intersection that I was supposed to turn at and thought "You know what, I don't want to wait around... I'm just going to walk home." It seemed like a good idea at the time, so I just kept walking past the intersection. I had the way mapped out in my mind, so it didn't seem that bad. And the I got to a point where I realized "Wait... Gill is a really long fucking road. Shit." and by that point I was too far to turn back. So I kept walking... and walking... for four and a half hours.

I didn't get home until 2:30, and my mom was freaked out (because I had no way of contacting her). I wanted to call her and let her know what was going on, I just had no way to do so. When I got home, I called her right away. She was a little upset, but it was all good. Definitely a learning experience.

It was also especially brutal because I had my schoolbag with me (laptop bag, not backpack), and had nothing to drink or eat... Yeah, it was fun.

As for the rest of my week, I'm sleeping in, maybe going to a friend's place to swim, and them partying it up over the long weekend (Canada Day, bitches)! And then I start work on Tuesday. Exciting.

So, there's my update of teh life. Hope you all have a good week, and for all of my Canadian brethren, have a fantastic Canada Day!!

-Brandon

By the way, I'm getting drunk tonight as a celebration of summer's arrival. If you want to join me o Skype, let me know. It'll be mostly metal-threaders from RvB, but all are welcome.

Summer is a-coming in; arise, arise.

So we've come to the end. I have one more exam to go, and then I'm free. I'm not really worried about the exam. Actually, I'm not worried at all. I can't improve my mark enough to change my previous one, so there's no point in worrying about doing well. Unfortunately I still haven't been accepted to York, but whatever; I'll probably be going to Georgian anyway.

As for summer plans, I've got lots. On top of the many parties that are foreseen in these next two months, I have a job!! That's right, I got the job I was talking about in the last entry. It's awesome because Phil's first words when he saw me were "this is a job offering, not a job interview" so that lifted all anxiety out of the air. I will be working full-time; Monday to Friday, 8 to 5, $10 an hour. It's gong to be pretty awesome. As I mentioned before, it will be primarily filing, and other general office help.

I'm excited for the summer. I'll have some cash, and there will be a mountainous amount of parties. And with money, I'll be able to get my license, which means more job opportunities as well as easier party access. It's shaping up to be a good year, my friends.

HAZAA!!

I don't know if I mentioned this before, but I've been trying to get a job with a family-friend over the summer, but it's been really difficult to set up a meeting. Well, summer is almost here (two weeks) and I was getting really nervous, so I emailed the guy. Well, he just replied, and set up a lunch meeting on Tuesday!! I'm excited, it'll be my first job, and it'll be really good. Most importantly, it'll look damn good on a resume, so I'll have more opportunity for jobs after the summer (if I don't get into York).

What I'll be doing, I have yet to know. The guy does real-estate valuation or something along those lines, so I'll probably be doing filing or other medial tasks. I'm looking forward to it though, it should pay well. I'll let you guys know how the meeting goes.

Have a great week!

PotC: At World's End

I saw Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End last night and I loved it. I must warn you now, I can't guarantee that this will be a spoiler-free review. I try to avoid them, but there are some plot-points that I may bring up. You have been warned.

To start, I believe this to be the best of the trilogy (let's hope it stays a trilogy... fucking Bruckheimer). The first was fantastic, revolutionary. As film_geek puts it "Pirates is the 'Indiana Jones' of this generation". The second was less than stellar... To be honest, I hated it when I first saw it. Watching it a second and third time raised my opinion of it, but it wasn't nearly as good as the first. The biggest problem with the second was that it was messy. At World's End, though still jumpy, keeps on track, and stays with the spirit of the first. The plot wasn't that good (but, to be honest, I don't believe any of the PotC plots were intriguing), but it was the acting, visual effects, and action that brought it up a notch.

The acting was brilliant, especially on Johnny Depp's part, and there are a couple instances during the movie where Jack takes from the pages of one of my favourite movies, Secret Window. Geoffrey Rush was great, though didn't match his performance in the first. Barbossa definitely had his moments, but overall felt somewhat forgotten, though it's not like they could've given him much more screen time. Orlando Bloom and Kira Knightly were just as annoying as they were in the last two, though Will actually seemed determined this time. The two have good chemistry, but the characters have just gotten annoying. Bill Nighy is fucking amazing. He did so well showing the weakness of Davey Jones, whilst staying vicious and somewhat frightening. The biggest problem I found about the second movie was that Jones didn't seem as prominent of a villain as Barbossa, but he makes up for that in this film. All of the other secondary characters were great, except Tia Dalma. She seemed randomly broken from the very beginning, as if she all of a sudden started loving Jones again. Her attitude seemed out-of-place from the second film, and it pissed me off because she was one of my favourite new characters. The new pirates were cool, but again weren't elaborated on as much as I would've liked. Chou Yun-Fat 's character seemed to be a big part, but was forgotten about rather quickly, and then killed off soon after that. I think Depp's performance makes up for all of the bad. He really deserves the Oscar this year.

As for the special effects, they were amazing. Davey Jones looks better than he did in the last film, as do his crew. The ships are fucking awesome. Incomprehensible. The storm and maelstrom were cool as well. I was very impressed. Also (referring to Jack's performance) the numerous Captains were amazing. For one guy acting out over 20 parts, it was uber-impressive, and looked pretty damn real. It was a high-budget pirate movie... there's not much more that can be said. It looked good.

The plot was... meh. As I said before, I've never been to keen on the PotC plots. They're hokey, but the movie is meant to be fun, and it is successful in that sense. The plot doesn't really matter with the Pirate movies, as it is all about the thrill of the action and the love of the characters. It was one of the better plots (whether it is better than the first is still undecided), but it still had its problems.

The action was fun, fast, and amazing. Some of the best sequences I've ever seen. The final sea-battle was epic. I was so impressed, it was fucking awesome. It was so well done... I can't say much more than that. If you don't want to see the movie, whatever, but you need to see this battle. It is the coolest ship fight I've ever seen. YouTube it, pirate it, I don't care. You must watch this sequence.

All in all, it was a good movie. I think that the performances overall push it above the heap, but I still love the first. If anything, they're equal. It will take a second viewing to decide whether it is better. I highly recommend this film, it's easily worth the $10.

By the way, there are a couple things I wanted to mention that don't really fit into the other categories. The opening sequence is amazing. I had shivers, it was awesome. Unfortunately, once it passed, the movie started out a little slow and rocky. Other than that, it was a great ride. Oh, and there are so many sexual references and innuendos... A little edgy for Disney, but still awesome.

I hope you enjoyed the review, and get to see the movie sometime soon. Have a great weekend!

MAY TWO-FOUR

This year was far better than last. It was awesome, for the most part. A friend of mine has a huge farm, and we camped out in the back fields (a good twenty minute walk from the road). We bought two 20L kegs... that's right, I said TWO KEGS. And we pretty much finished them both (there was maybe a cup of two left in the last one). It was awesome.

The first night was alright. There were a couple people there I had never met before, and other people I hadn't seen for a long time. Unfortunately, the friend who was hosting the party was forced to bring his brother and his little friends. Fucking brats, in my opinion. Anyways, it started to rain, and my friend Wes lives right next door, so we went over to his place to get food and stuff. By the time we were going to head back, it was pouring rain, so we just chilled out at his place and went to sleep. I didn't have a whole lot to drink, but it was still pretty good.

The second day is where it got interesting. I wandered back over around 2, and apparently a couple of my friends headed home to get clothes, food, and other various supplies. When they got back, we started drinking. I was quite drunk before the next group of people showed up and the party started. In fact, we polished off the first keg around 4. We cut down some trees (very scary when intoxicated), found a coyote skeleton (I snagged the femur), got a fuck-ton of wood in preparation for the cold night ahead (as we were not very prepared the previous evening), and played some manhunt. Eventually we got a wicked fire going, and hung out for a couple hours (still drinking, of course).

Around 8 more people started showing up, and the party got going. Unfortunately with the introduction of more people there was more booze, and we had some puking (not by me, thankfully). I met some cool new people, and reunited with old friends. It was a good night. It got a little chilly, but we huddled together and had a good ol' time. And with everyone's help, the cleanup went pretty fast. It was an awesome weekend, and I'm hoping to do the same sort of thing at my place next weekend.

I'M BACK!!

My dad cancelled our old dial-up account with Bell, and for some retardedly random reason, they decided to wipe out our entire internet account. So we've been out of internet for over a week. We are back online now, thankfully. And the house is all networked up, so we can all surf at the same time, rather than dragging the modem all over the place.

I still haven't heard from York whether I've been accepted (nor do I think I'm going to). I did apply to Staples, so hopefully I'll hear from them in the coming weeks as to whether I have a job. I really hope I get a job, because if I'm not working, I have no idea what I'll be doing next year (if I don't get accepted).

Well, that's about it. I figured I'd let you guys know where I've been and whatnot. Hopefully we can go a month or two without any more incompetence on Bell's part.

Guess What!!

I just found out that I can't get into the main program I applied for at York. Apparently there was a "fine arts evaluation" that I was supposed to apply for (to be considered), the interviews taking place in March. Yeah, so I missed the ball on that one. Hopefully I can get into the other course I applied to, and then maybe switch to the other one after my first year. We shall see. I really hope I didn't fuck this thing up, seeing as I already made the mistake of staying home this year. Gah! I want to get the fuck out of here... I'm so sick of my family. I'm so sick of my school. I'm so sick of this city. I've gotten to the point where I honestly don't know why my friends are still my friends, because I find myself, uncontrollably, acting like an asshole. Well, all we can do is wait and hope. I'm sure my life will come together soon enough... (yeah, how many times have I said that before)

19th Birthday = Awesome Sauce

Well, my actual birthday was good, but not as great as expected. We went to The Keg steakhouse, which was awesome, and I got a wicked speaker system for my compy. I was hanging out with Wes later that night, but it was late and we were both tired, so we didn't drink very much. We crashed pretty early too.

As for Saturday, it was much more eventful. Sarah took me out for dinner at the Fishbowl (though it was early, so it was a challenge to finish), and Sarah continues to be awesome. While eating dinner, she told me that the guys were hoping to celebrate my birthday (by getting completely trashed, of course), which was somewhat of a surprise since I wasn't expecting anything. So we went over to Blair's house after dinner, and sat in his room for a while. Luke then popped on MSN ranting about how he hates York and that he really wants to come hang out. I figured he was joking since he was in Toronto, but Sarah, being the amazingly awesome person she is, offered to drive down and pick him up. So we did that, and got back to Blair's around 12am. I was getting really tired, and hoped I wouldn't pass out as soon as I started drinking. Thankfully, the company was some of the best, so we drank until about 7am. We polished off the 40 of Jack I had bought the day before... (I'll post before/after pictures soon). It was a great night.

Now, I was really looking forward to that Skypecast thing, so I'm a little disappointed that I never got around to hosting it. Perhaps I will finally get around to hosting this thing on some random occasion in the near future. We shall see...

Well, that's it for me. Hope you all had a great weekend!

THREE DAYS!!

Wow, this weekend went by really fast. Anyways, three days until my birthday. I'm pretty fucking giddy. I have no idea what my parents are getting me, nor do I even know what I'm going to be doing (other than my Skypecast). I'm thinking that I will have a couple people over on Friday to enjoy a few drinks (though I plan to get pretty drunk, as expected of my by those tuning into the Skypecast). I'm hoping one of my friends will open up their doors on Saturday and allow me to celebrate properly. We'll see what happens. Anyways, that's it for me. Hope you all have a good week, and I shall post another journal sometime on my birthday (perhaps after the Skypecast). Look at that, I managed to fit in three sneaky ads for my Skypecast. Ooops, there's another one!

Alright, later days.

Skype Services

I've been playing around with Skype recently, and found a cool new feature. It's called "Skype Prime Services" and is a neat way to make money. Basically, it's a call-in service for whatever you want. Since I'm a geek, my services are computer based (general assistance, software enquiries, etc). Hopefully I can be making some money relatively soon. I've added a bunch of services down the side of my blog, as well as Google AdSense, so I'm hoping to get some hits in the near future, and start making some cash.

In other news, my birthday is in one week. Greatly looking forward to it, though I have yet to ask my parents about having people over here. I'm going to ask them sometime over the weekend, so be sure to check back soon for news. If I do have people over for my birthday, it probably won't actually be on my birthday, unless it's later in the night (9 or 10). I'm thinking about Saturday, but I guess it's all up to my parents.

Alright, that's it from me. Remember to check back soon, and be sure to check out my birthday Skypecast. Later days!

Two Weeks...

...and counting. That's right folks, my 19th birthday is in two weeks (April 13). As expected, I'm going to be completely drunk. I was planning on staying home the whole day, to get a head start on the partying, but it seems the school has scheduled a meeting for me on that day, so I have to go in... and I have to be sober (I know, total ripoff). So it looks like I won't be able to start drinking until after 2:00, but whatever. I'm hoping I can hang out with a few friends, if not at my house then some other place (*hint hint*). We'll see...

I want to stay home, at least for part of the night. I'm sure my parents will let me have a few people over, but only time will tell. Anyways, the reason I want to stay home is because a friend of mine from Roosterteeth gave me a great idea. I've set up a Skypecast (open conference call) to take place on the night of my birthday, so you guys (or at least those who have Skype) can chat with me while in my inebriated state. Here's the Skypecast page. This promises to be an unforgettable night... despite the fact that I'm probably going to forget everything!

Everyone remembers their first... Anyways, this is my first post on the new Google/Blogger website. I had a Blogger page before, but never really updated. Now that it's linked to my Gmail, hopefully I can become an avid poster.
